According to the SGA constitution and 2016-2017 Election Regulations:
ARTICLE III.
Filing
section I. Candidate Eligibility
(a) General Qualifications for Office
          (1) All candidates must meet the qualifications for their respective offices as set forth in the Texas A&M University Student Rules and their respective organization’s governing documents.  
          (2) Undergraduate Students may be classified as freshmen, sophomores, juniors, or seniors according to the starting date of their undergraduate studies or, if the candidate requests, according to the number of course hours they have completed if that places them ahead of their class year. Graduate Students are considered to be in their own classification.

Student Senate - Contact: Jasmine Wang (senatespeaker@dsa.tamu.edu)

No member of the Student Senate shall be on scholastic or conduct probation with the University.  All members must comply with the academic standards as set forth in the University Rules and Regulations, as well as have at least a 2.0 cumulative and term grade point ratio for undergraduate students and at least a 3.00 cumulative and term grade point ratio for graduate students at the time of their election or appointment.  All members shall maintain these grade point ratios for every semester (spring, summer, and fall) while in office.

 

Caucus Specific Eligibility for Student Senate

-Freshman Student Senator (2): The two (2) seats shall be two (2) students of freshman classification at-large.

  1. Conduct Class Meetings

  2. Set goal and vision for year

  3. Initiate recognition cycle

  4. Attend weekly meetings with Class Councils Advisor

  5. Serve as Chief Student Leader for Student Activities purposes

  6. Initiate application process and plan interview timeline for selection of the incoming Leadership Team”
